The explanation of the readings of Thursday the fifth week

Today’s readings speak of the son of God, the law-maker and the Lord of Saturdy.

The book of Isaiah begins by explaining the essence of the law; the comfort and healing of mankind, which leads to the glory of God.

“I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles,

To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, Let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Let them give glory to the Lord, And declare His praise in the coastlands.” (Isaiah 42)

In the parables of Solomon, the purpose of the commandment is the life of Man and the correction of his ways and paths.

“Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.

Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.” (Proverbs 4)

Job reproaches God that he was living the essence and spirit of the commandment for the mercy of others.

“Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper.

The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

I was eyes to the blind, And I was feet to the lame.

I was a father to the poor, And I searched out the case that I did not know.” (Job 29)

And in the Matins psalm, it reveals the wars and resistances of violators of the spirit and essence of the law.

“O God, the proud have risen against me, And a mob of violent men have sought my life, And have not set You before them.” (Psalms 86)

The Matins gospel explains the authority and greatness of the law-maker.

“And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.

And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. ” (Luke 9)

In Pauline Epistle, it warns against participating in the tables of evil and idolatry, and although everything is solved for man, he chooses what is suitable for him and what to build.

“and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons .Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God,” (1 Corinthians 10)

And in the Catholic Epistle,it talks about the blessings and glory of the commandment and the law of grace : the second birth, the heavenly inheritance, the guarding of divine power, the most precious faith which is more precious than gold and the glorious joy.

“has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away,

that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,” (1 Peter 1)

In Praxis, St. Paul shows the highest commitment to the commandment to surrender the will completely to God.

” Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.” (Acts 21)

In the psalm of the liturgy,it talks about the righteous sign; God’s presence in the midst of his people.

“Show me a sign for good, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.” (Psalms 86)

In the Gospel of the liturgy, the son of God, the Sabbath-maker, shows its meaning and essence.

“The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?

So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound–think of it–for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” (Luke 13)
