The explanation of the readings of Saturday the fifth week

(Saturday of preparing for His second coming)

The readings of this day tell us about his coming after the perfection of his divine management with the father

(The paralyzed man readings) and about the son of God, the judge of all mankind after the opportunities for repentance on earth, that is, the readings of this day are a warning entrance to the readings of Sunday.

While the Sunday readings proclaim the perfection of the divine economy and the fullness of the times of healing and salvation, the Saturday readings warn of the danger of our complacency and laziness about the speed of His coming.

The Matins Psalm begins with the affirmation that all human beings will stand before God.

” O You who hear prayer, To You all flesh will come.” (Psalms 65)

And in the Matins gospel, it proclaims the joy of heaven and the heavenly by the repentance of sinners.

“I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.” (Luke 15)

And in Pauline Epistle, it warns about the works and lusts of the flesh that can deprive us of the kingdom.

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

idolatry, sorcery, hatred,

of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5)

Catholic Epistle also emphasizes the closeness of the coming of the Lord, the seriousness of the lack of love and our grumbling against others.

“You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!” (James 5)

In Praxis, the Lord Jesus teaches Saul of Tarsus that He has chosen him as a servant to open the eyes of people, to free them from the power of Satan and from judgment, and to receive eternal inheritance.

“He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you.

I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you,

to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ (Acts 26)

In the psalm of the liturgy, the soul hopes to God to escape the judgment of the trial

“In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness. Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, ” (Psalms 143)

The Gospel of the liturgy concludes with the lamentations of the scribes and Pharisees because of the falsity of teaching and hypocrisy of behavior, and the final warning to Jerusalem for rejecting the son of God, who will leave their house to ruin.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate”(Matthew 23)
