The readings of this day speak of the glory of God, who is the treasure of the soul despite the injustice of mankind.
The readings begin with the cry of the people from the heavy bondage of pharaoh, who is the symbol of Satan, and God’s response to the cry of the people and His promise of salvation.
“And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land” (Exodus 3)
And in the book of Isaiah,it talks about the glory of God in all the Earth.”In that day the Branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious; And the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and appealing For those of Israel who have escaped.” (Isaiah 4)
It also talks about the true glory of God is the salvation of أis children.
“When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning,” (Isaiah 4)
It also reveals the fate of the Jewish nation, which rejected the true vineyard.
“And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, Judge, please, between Me and My vineyard.
What more could have been done to My vineyard That I have not done in it? Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, Did it bring forth wild grapes?
And now, please let Me tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned; And break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.” (Isaiah 5)
The Matins psalm declares that the glory of God is the longing and hope of the soul.
“Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.” (Psalms 40)
The Matins gospel highlights the constant work of the son of God for mankind, smce He frees man from the grip of Satan and constantly resurrects him.
“When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”
Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.” (Mark 9)
Paulne Epistle warns that humans willfully reject God’s presence and work in the universe despite the revelation of His glory in creation.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (Romans 1)
Catholic Epistle completes the warning by mentioning examples from the ancient times, such as the destruction of the Israelites, who crossed the sea with Moses the prophet, but tried the Lord, as well as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, and even the angels who did not keep their leadership also inhabited hell.
“But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;” (Jude 1)
Praxis reveals the model of St. Barnabas, who acquired the heavenly treasure and placed all his possessions under the feet of the apostles.
“And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” (Acts 4)
But it also reveals a painful picture of a family that perished because of the agreement to lie to the spirit of God.
“Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” (Acts 5)
In the psalm of the liturgy, the soul praises its God and offers offerings and sacrifices to Him as a sign of repentance and glorification to Him.
“Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones, Give unto the Lord glory and strength.
Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” (Psalms 29)
The Gospel of the mass concludes with the fact that God always vsits the oppressed and persecuted, crying out to Him from the injustice of mankind.
“And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?
I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18)
