The readings of this day speak about the glory of teaching and the glory of the word of God in our life.
The readings begin with the prophecy of the book of Exodus, in which it shows the danger of human thought, whatever its spiritual purpose is, when Moses the Prophet himself thought of a human way to save his brothers, the result of which was his escape for forty years.
“And when he went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting, and he said to the one who did the wrong, “Why are you striking your companion?”
Then he said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” So Moses feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!”
When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.” (Exodus 2)
The prophecy of Isaiah proclaims the danger of misleading false teaching to people.
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5)
It declares the fate of those who disregard the word of God and His law.
“Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.” (Isaiah 5)
In the Matins psalm, the soul rests on its God in the face of human resistance to it.
” For they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support.” (Psalms 18)
The Matins gospel shows the unity of the Bible and the complete teaching and commandment of God, He completed the law with His law in the New Testament.
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” (Matthew 5)
And the importance of living by the commandment is more than what we teach people about it, they see it in us before they hear it from us.
“Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5)
While Pauline Epistle proclaims the importance of the Old Testament law and the preference for circumcision as an introduction and preparation for the New Testament law, despite the dishonesty of the Jews.
“What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?
Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.
For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?
Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.” (Romans 3)
Catholic Epistle emphasizes the importance of abiding in the teaching of Christ.
“Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.” (2 John 1)
But he warns believers not to accept heretics into their synagogue.
“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;” (2 John 1)
Praxis completes the warning against underestimating the teaching of the spirit and the voice of the unity of the church and its members, as it happened to Ananias and Safira in their underestimating of the spirit of God in the church.
“But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.” (Acts 5)
And in the psalm of the liturgy the soul finds its only refuge and immunity in its God and its love for the Lord.
“I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust” (Psalms 18)
The Gospel of the liturgy concludes by showing the richness of the divine teaching to people, for those who stayed three days with Christ for His glory to be filled and fed on His life-giving teachings, these deserved to be filled from His overflow despite the desolate place.
“Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
Then His disciples said to Him, “Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?” (Matthew 15)
Triads:
It is wonderful and noteworthy that the souls were filled after three days of being with the Lord. (The Gospel of the liturgy).
While Safira died three hours after the betrayal of her husband and also her betrayal (Praxis).
Pharaoh found out what Moses had done on the second day, and Moses the Prophet fled on the third day (Exodus).
Isaiah spoke of three comparisons: evil and good, darkness and light, and bitter and sweet.
The Matins gospel talks about the great and the little and those who do not enter the kingdom of Heaven, which was said three times.
And Pauline Epistle, who spoke of three divine qualities: God’s faithfulness, God’s righteousness, and God’s sincerity.
