The explanation of the readings of Monday the sixth week

Today’s readings speak about the constant preaching of repentance, one of the responsibilities of the Holy Church, and even its most important mission.

The proverbs of Solomon begin with a call to know God, wisdom is more valuable than the treasures of the Earth, and not to twist or distort the heart.

“To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men. O you simple ones, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart. Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things;

For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge” (Proverbs 8)

In the book of Isaiah, the Lord testifies to all the people that He saved them, accepted their repentance and forgave their sins.

“I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior.

I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, And there was no foreign god among you; Therefore you are My witnesses,” Says the Lord, “that I am God.

“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.

Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.” (Isaiah 43)

In the book of Job, it is made clear that preaching and repentance of souls do not depend on the possibilities of the shepherds and the years and life of their service as much as it concerns the work of God; The Examiner of hearts and the kidneys.

” I said, ‘Age should speak, And multitude of years should teach wisdom.’

But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. Great men are not

always wise, Nor do the aged always understand justice.” (Job 32)

And the soul trusts in the Matins psalm that God knows very well all her lusts and all her moans.

” Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You.” (Psalms 38 )

In the Matins gospel, the Lord rebukes the Jews for rejecting the salvation of His beloved Son after their repeated rejection of His prophets and their constant call to repentance.

“Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that he might receive some of the fruit of the vineyard from the vinedressers.

And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.” (Mark 12)

Pauline Epistle emphasizes holiness and brotherly love.

” for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;

But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;” (1 Thessalonians 4)

Catholic Epistle warns not to always cleanse the heart from sin, especially speaking evil of brothers and condemnation.

“Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. Who are you to judge another?”(James 4)

In Praxis, the Lord appears to Saint Paul to reassure him and encourage him to continue preaching, because he will accept many people of faith in the city.

” Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent;

for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”

And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.” (Acts 18)

In the psalm of the liturgy, the soul invokes the protection of the Lord from the resisters and servants of darkness.

“Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me; Fight against those who fight against me.

Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help.” (Psalms 35)

The Gospel of the liturgy concludes with the proclamation of God in every generation and time by His divine economy in human accidents, life misfortunes and natural disasters, that survival from eternal destruction is more important than everything, and it does not matter much the way or cause of death as much as the fate of humans and their eternity.

” There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13)
