The explanation of the readings of Saturday the first week

(Saturday of the way of perfection )

Today’s readings speak about the perfections of a Christian in his love, worship, service, pain, distress, patience, the perfections of the Father’s commandment, His will, forgiveness and love. The pursuit and path of perfection is the entrance to the heavenly treasure, the title of the Sunday readings that follow is the treasures Sunday.

Therefore, the Matins Psalm begins by proclaiming the perfection of the Christian’s relationship with the Lord: He is his luck, his share, his treasure, his lust and wishes nothing but His face and His presence.

“You are my portion, O Lord; I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; ” (Psalms 119)

The Matins Gospel proclaims the perfection of the divine commandment and the law of the New Testament that the children of the Father should live in comparison with the law of

the Old Testament, which suited the ancient nature and man, the heart of redemption and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’

But I say to you, do not swear at all” (Matthew 5)

Pauline Epistle explains the perfection of worship and the constant change of mind and heart to live the perfect will of God.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12)

Catholic Epistle refers to complete patience in tribulations and sufferings as the acceptance of children to their father’s examination of their faith and purification.

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

(James 1)

As for Praxis,it proclaims the perfection of the tribulation to which the Church of God is always subjected all the time.

“And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.

Now as they were seeking to kill him, news came to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.” (Acts 21)

In the psalm of the liturgy, the soul affirms its steadfastness because it sees in its God the king who reigns over everything.” Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation. My King and my God, ” (Psalms 5)

The Gospel of the liturgy concludes with a talk about the law of perfection, the source of perfection to which our souls should aspire and our hearts hope, the sublimity of His love for all and His divine goodness, which embraces the whole creation, evil and righteous.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5)
