The readings of Bright Saturday reveal the transition (literal translation of Pascha = Passover) of the souls of the righteous of the Old Testament who have gone from Hades to Paradise together with Christ. After Christ died on the cross, he descended into Hades to save the souls that waited for Him. In addition, many saints had risen from the dead, as Saint Peter said (1 Peter 3:18-19) and appeared to many in Jerusalem.
Joyous Saturday is the night between Good Friday and the Sunday of Resurrection. In this night, we witness God’s salvation at work, as He descended into Hades to break our chains, thereby releasing us from the bondage of Satan. This night is the night of the transit from death to life, from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to the fellowship of Christ, from sorrow to joy, and from the inheritance of sin, the world, the devil and the physical desires for grace, life, adoption, glory, and happiness.
Praises
For the praises of Bright Saturday, the church has chosen not only praises that express redemption, but also those that express the transition from death to life. As have transposed all things that cause pain and death, become things that give us joy, liberation, and life.
